When the time started to plan my partners 40th birthday I knew we had to celebrate with the things he loves the most. But first, before we jump into the party - we must start off with the invitation.
Creating invitations on a daily basis, I've seen my fair share of wording ideas but what I strongly believe to be best is SIMPLE, CLEAN and CLEAR. Too much information looks cluttered and can overwhelm a design. For this invitation I was straight to the point, a little quirky and a whole lot of awesome.
The party was at our home, but I didn't have to list our address as the people we were inviting know where we live - and if they didn't then we were left with the question - are they close enough to be invited? Nor was any rsvp contact details listed - again, they should know our numbers.
A play on 40 and T for Tarkan created a icon that was the center stone for the event - 4T. From here a crazy cool idea was formed for the invitation, a clear acrylic base, with 4T printed on the reverse and the wording on the front, giving the invitation some extra dimension. This was packed in a black bubble mailer.
Now for the party - We held it at or home (enjoy the sneak peek) so I wanted to ensure that you felt the experience of the night from the moment you stepped in front of the home. I created these cutout 4T icons, that reflected the invitation and framed you as you entered the house.
Once you stepped in there was a guide directing you to the party - and a little nod to Star Wars - something I really love... oh and my partner loves too.
Our home has an inside/outside open plan which gave us the opportunity to create 'zones' to give our guests options to enjoy. The first zone was the kids zone. I created colouring in wall for the kids featuring both party & Star Wars icons. This was surrounded by tonal playtoys by
Little Luxe Party Hire.
My partners background is Turkish and one of the things we both love is Shisha. So what better place to chill is to have our own little Shisha corner. It wasn't too hard to decorate as we already owned most of the styling items - but I did tie it altogether with a custom backdrop to frame the corner and my loves at Botanics of Melbourne creating some gorgeous dry floral displays.
Back in the house was where the good stuff was happening. Food, drinks & desserts! A grazing table was out throughout the night, updating to sweets as the night closed in. We also had Woodfire Pizza's to keep everyone full.
Enough can't be said about these custom cookies of our two fur children created by Cookie & Joy.
To tie off the room, I created this backdrop which was a great for all our group photos of the night.
And I couldn't help myself - I had to have balloon twisting artist
Scott a Twist join us... creating balloons for the ADULTS... oh and the kids too. He also created this custom piece that tied in perfectly.
And then we had cake, where
Baked by Belinda created this cake again, featuring our furbabies.
If you made it this far... congratulations, enjoy a little pic of me and my man!
